Some downtown parking lots will close for restriping, a section of Mass Street will close for an event Saturday, and there are closures coming up on Tennessee Street and in North Lawrence.
Here are some notes from the city’s Friday traffic update.
Parking lots to be closed for restriping
Several downtown parking lots will be restriped in the coming week. Crews will close the lots at 6 a.m. the day they’re scheduled for work, complete the restriping, and then reopen the lots at 9 a.m. the same day, according to the city.

• Tuesday, Oct. 21: Lots 15, 12 and 14
• Wednesday, Oct. 22: Lots 3 (pictured above) and 9
• Thursday, Oct. 23: Lots 11, 5 and 10

“Crews can work around any cars still parked in the parking lots, but residents are encouraged to not park there overnight,” according to the city.

Section of Mass Street to close for event Saturday
Massachusetts Street will be closed between North Park Street and South Park Street from 6:45 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 18 for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s Event.
Lane closures coming up on 12th and Tennessee
City contractors will begin waterline, sidewalk and curb ramp work on West 12th Street between Tennessee and Ohio streets, as well as on Tennessee Street between West 12th and West 13th streets, on Monday, Oct. 20.
The work is for a sidewalk accessibility reconstruction project.
Traffic won’t be able to travel east on West 12th Street during the work, and the western southbound lane on Tennessee Street will be closed. The city anticipates the closure will end in early November, pending weather or other delays.
North Sixth and Lyon intersection to close
Contractors will close the intersection of North Sixth and Lyon streets in North Lawrence for street maintenance work. The closure is expected to last three weeks, pending weather or other delays.
