The 39th annual Lawrence St. Patrick’s Day Parade is set to fill the streets with green-clad good times on Tuesday.
The parade is set to begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, with staging at South Park and the route to begin at 11th and Massachusetts streets.
The parade will head north through downtown, cross the Kansas River bridge into North Lawrence, head east on Locust Street and south to end at North Ninth and Oak streets, according to the website. The route is about 2.3 miles.
As of Friday afternoon, the National Weather Service forecast for Tuesday showed a high of 48° expected with partly sunny skies. The forecast anticipates winds of 5 to 10 mph and gusts as high as 20 mph.
The parade, and its associated events held throughout each year, have raised more than $1.53 million to donate to local charitable organizations over its nearly four decades, according to its website.
This year’s beneficiaries are Lawrence Youth Football and the Lawrence Farmers Market.
