The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday announced the launch of an online call log.

The log contains all calls received and initiated by sheriff’s office employees for the past seven days from the time the report is generated, according to a news release from the department.

DGSO’s log is similar to the Lawrence Police Department’s 24 hours of calls, published each day around 1 p.m., in the information it contains: the incident number, date and time, a brief description of the call, and whether a report was made.

Differing from LPD’s, the sheriff’s office log does not include location information, but it includes the number of responding officers.

“It does not include a location of the call, to protect privacy of potential victims, including those in remote areas of the county, but it does give enough details, including the incident number, which would allow members of the public or the media to follow-up and request more information that might be publicly available,” according to the release.

The log is available at this link. It can be viewed online or downloaded as a PDF, spreadsheet and other formats.

“We are excited for community members to have access to this report as we implement another step in our commitment to being as transparent as we can be,” Sheriff Jay Armbrister said in the release. “This will give people a window especially into all the hard work our deputies do on a daily basis, and it will hopefully give our community a sense of the vital role they play in protecting public safety  and the importance of dedicating resources to service.”

The sheriff’s office also maintains on its website an online jail booking log and list of people who are currently in custody.
