Car strikes duplex in Lawrence; some families without power

A car struck a duplex near 16th Street and Haskell Avenue in Lawrence around 9 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Lawrence Police Department.

No one was seriously injured, but at least three families were without power as a result of the crash, according to a Facebook post from LPD. The power company was on scene and said it may be some time before power can be restored, according to LPD.

Officers were still on the scene as of 10 p.m. helping the families and investigating the crash, according to the post. LPD asks people to avoid the area.

The cause of the crash was not immediately clear Tuesday night.
