“Ananda’s past work experience, dedication to sexual violence prevention, and many deep connections within the community will be of great benefit to both the agency and those who it serves,” the center’s news release stated.

Ananda — a former Lawrence city commissioner — will start her new job on Jan. 30, according to the release. She has previously served as a Title IX coordinator at both the University of Kansas and Emporia State University and worked as an attorney in private practice.

“It is an honor to continue to serve this community and the mission of the Care Center,” Ananda said in the release. “I look forward to carrying on the legacy of this important institution in Douglas County and our surrounding communities.”

Ananda fills the position left vacant when Chrissy Heikkila, who served at the Care Center for 13 years, resigned in November to join Heartland Community Health Center as its grants director.
