Douglas County could see 1 to 2 inches of snow accumulation overnight Wednesday into Thursday, according to the National Weather Service in Topeka.

There’s a slight chance of snow before 10 p.m. Wednesday, the NWS forecast showed as of Tuesday evening. Then there’s a chance of rain and snow from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m., followed by snow through Thursday morning. Patchy blowing snow is expected from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday.

The low forecast temperature overnight Wednesday into Thursday is 19°, and the high for Thursday is 29°. It will be blustery, with wind gusts up to 25 mph, according to the forecast.

Douglas County falls southeast of the areas where the NWS had issued a winter storm watch as of Tuesday evening. However, the NWS says forecasted snow amounts have slightly increased and may still change. The weather service warns to check forecasts and adjust travel plans as needed.

Temperatures are expected to rise again along with sunny skies Friday and through the weekend, reaching near 60° on Sunday, according to the NWS.
