The KU First Nations Student Association’s Powwow and Indigenous Cultures Festival invited community members for a day of activities and learning on Saturday, all leading up to the evening Grand Entry.
During Grand Entry, the color guard carries in the flag and Eagle Staff into the arena, followed by honored guests and head dancers. Then the remaining dancers enter the arena. The FNSA powwow had Grand Entry at noon, and again at 6 p.m. to open the second session of the powwow.
At the end of the day’s events, volunteers took down the tipi that was raised on the Lied Center lawn.
