A local author will soon launch her newest book, which is full of imaginative stories from nature’s perspective.

Kij Johnson is set to talk about her new book, “The Privilege of the Happy Ending: Small, Medium, and Large Stories,” at an upcoming Raven Book Store event. The book is Johnson’s second collection of speculative fiction stories, according to an event page on the Raven’s website.

“Here you will encounter dreamlands, talking chickens, stranger beasts, and also the ghastly spectre of Toad Hall in narratives of ranging forms, from classically told tales to playfully post-modern work,” the event page says of the book.

She also serves as an associate director of the Ad Astra Institute for Science Fiction and the Speculative Imagination.

After an evening of storytelling, Johnson will answer audience questions and sign books for folks.
