Kiddos from Lawrence and beyond got to have their photos taken with Santa and snack on some cookies Monday.

The event is part of the Festival of Trees, the primary annual fundraising event for the O’Connell Children’s Shelter. The nonprofit organization serves Douglas County young people who need residential care and stabilization services, truancy prevention and more

Kids of all ages are welcome to have cookies with Santa again from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28 at Maceli’s, 1031 New Hampshire St. Organizers suggest a donation of $5 for adults and children older than 3, or $20 for families of four or more people.

August Rudisell/Lawrence Times Santa wasn’t the only granter of wishes in attendance Monday. Kenny Logan Jr., left, and Cobee Bryant, right, two of the many KU football players who led the Jayhawks to their first 8-win season since 2008, were also on hand to take photos with fans.
