The Lawrence Schools Foundation will soon host a Kids Expo to welcome students and help them get ready for the 2024-25 school year.

The event is set for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10 at district offices, 110 McDonald Drive.

It will feature “food, fun, free shoes, haircuts (by appointment only), backpacks, school supplies, free screenings, activities, music, games and much more,” according to the Lawrence Schools Foundation.

The expo is free and open to all district families to give an opportunity to learn about the district’s community services, educational programs and extracurricular activities, according to the foundation.

Dottie, the Lawrence Public Library’s bookmobile, and inflatables from KU Athletics will be there, as will representatives of the Lawrence Police Department and Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical, according to the foundation.
