Lawrence’s Prairie Park Nature Center is turning 25 years old, and the community is invited to its birthday party.
The celebration is set for 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 at the center, 2730 Harper St. in Lawrence.
“Come and get close to some of Lawrence’s most beloved animal ambassadors,” according to PPNC. “Support Monarch conservation by participating in catching and tagging Monarch butterflies in the prairie.”
There will be shaved ice available from Snowball Island and many more activities for all ages, according to the center.
No registration is required, and the event is free to attend.
“Join us for an afternoon of excitement and nature appreciation,” the center says.
PPNC staff members also recently resumed updating the center’s Facebook page at this link. Keep an eye on the page for more community events, updates and occasional glamour shots of opossums.
