Lawrence, KS

Brian was born January 28, 1959 in Lawrence. Kansas. The son of Lola and William Newman. He attended Lawrence public schools and received an electronics certificate from Topeka Technical College.

After serving in the United States Navy, Brian returned to Lawrence and was employed by the City of Lawrence Water Department. Some of his other employment included carpentry, mechanics and maintenance. Brian was truly a “Jack of all trades”.

Brian enjoyed fishing, camping, woodworking, cooking and operating his radio-controlled planes, boats and cars, listening to music – especially Blues and spending time with family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Steven and Robert Newman.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Leah Newman Tolbert (Xavier); brother, William Newman (Yolonda); Sisters, Jacqueline Newman and Barbara Mumford; Grandchildren, Willow and Kallan Tolbert, longtime friend Staci Rodriguez and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Brian passed away September 17, 2024 after a brief illness. He was 65.
