A Lawrence event aims to celebrate cats, and help meet their needs, by highlighting some of their best angles captured on camera.
The annual Cat Video Fest creates a video compilation of favorite cat videos from the past year, according to the Lawrence Arts Center’s event page. Selected animations, music videos and internet reels will show the feline friends getting up to all sorts of business.
“It is a family friendly event and it is great to see multigenerational audiences come together for the love of cats,” said Marlo Angell, Free State Festival founding director.
Similar screening events take place across the globe in efforts to raise money for cats in need, Angell said. They’re often hosted in partnership with local cat charities, animal welfare organizations or animal shelters.
Angell said ticket proceeds will support film programming at the arts center, and a portion will also be donated to Lawrence Humane Society. She said the event sold out swiftly last year, so this year’s will be held in a larger space.
The 2024 Cat Video Fest is scheduled for 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7 in the main stage auditorium at Lawrence Arts Center, 940 New Hampshire St.
Tickets cost $10 each and can be purchased via the arts center’s website at this link. Online ticket sales end one hour prior to show start time.
In-person ticket sales are also available at the arts center’s front desk or by calling 785-843-2787.
