In-person shopping hours continue through Dec. 19

The young artists of Van Go will soon welcome the community to their annual Adornment holiday art show and sale.

Adornment features works by apprentice artists at Van Go, an arts-based nonprofit that employs and provides social services to Douglas County teens and young adults ages 14 to 24.

Each fall, the artists begin creating smaller-scale pieces, such as ornaments, glassware, home goods, cards and magnets for the annual holiday show. Prices start at $3.

“The sense of pride our youth feel as they see their hard work being appreciated by the public is unparalleled,” the Van Go website says. “Adornment is one of the most accessible opportunities for the community to walk through our doors to see all the hard work we do, and to take home a piece of Van Go art.”

The opening night event for Adornment is set for 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30 at Van Go, 715 New Jersey St. in East Lawrence. Shopping will commence following a short program. The event is open to the public.

The gallery’s weekday hours will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, starting Tuesday, Dec. 3 and running through Thursday, Dec. 19. Weekend hours for the gallery are as follows:
1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7
11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15

Van Go’s online store is available to shop year-round at shop-van-go.myshopify.com. New products will be added to the online store at 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2.

All proceeds go back into Van Go’s programming, according to the website. Visit van-go.org to learn more.
