Theatre Lawrence will invite the community into a world of pure imagination this holiday season with its production of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.”
The musical, based on the classic Roald Dahl story, will feature Nolan Stewart as Charlie Bucket and Spencer Greenwood as Willy Wonka.
“Amid colorful and greedy companions, (Charlie) embarks on an enchanting adventure filled with Oompa-Loompas, lickable wallpaper, and everlasting gobstoppers, and soon discovers that nobody leaves this factory the same way that they arrived,” according to a news release from Theatre Lawrence.
“With a delightful score, the musical celebrates imagination, kindness, and the joy of childhood,” the release continues. “As the children learn valuable lessons about greed and selflessness, Charlie proves that a pure heart and a little magic lead to extraordinary adventures.”
Shows will run Friday, Dec. 6 through Sunday, Dec. 22. Some shows will feature live music in the lobby ahead of showtime. See a complete schedule and find tickets via Theatre Lawrence’s website at this link, or call 785-843-7469.
For some extra fun, the theatre has partnered with the Lawrence Public Library and the Merc to hide golden tickets that will grant two free tickets to the show.
The cast also includes Timmy Adams, Gwentessa Alfie, Zachary Bricken, Tim Canaday, Lily Davis, Maggie Kate Davis, Shelby Easum, Stephanie Ellis, Nikki Hammond, Callee Harris, Elana LaGrone, James LaRocca, Cadence Mayfield, Evan McDonald, Elsie Neuhofel, Jaryl Perkins, Aaron Polson, Elliot Polson, Kelly Schellman, Lily Stewart, Ellen Welander and Harrison Willmoth, according to the release.
