City of Lawrence and Douglas County offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 28 and 29, for the Thanksgiving holiday.
There will be no Douglas County Commission meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 27. The Lawrence City Commission’s next meeting is Tuesday, Dec. 3.
Parking will be free at meters, in lots and in garages in downtown Lawrence on Thursday and Friday.
Lawrence Transit will have no service on Thursday. It will resume on Friday, but Central Station will be closed Thursday and Friday.
Solid waste pickup will be delayed one day for Thursday and Friday residential customers. Thursday’s routes will be collected on Friday, and Friday’s trash routes will be collected on Saturday. There will be no changes for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday customers. There will be no roll-off service on Thursday or Friday; it resumes Monday, Dec. 2.
The Lawrence Public Library will be closed Thursday and Friday, but the digital library is available 24/7 at lplks.org/digital-library.
All city Parks and Recreation facilities will be closed Thursday. Holiday hours for recreation centers will be as follows:
• Community Building, East Lawrence Rec Center and Holcom Park Rec Center: Open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Friday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1
• Sports Pavilion Lawrence: Open 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday; 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday; 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday; and 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday
• Prairie Park Nature Center: Closed Friday; open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29; closed Sunday
• Eagle Bend Golf Course: Open 9 a.m. to dusk Friday; hours vary due to weather and frost
The Indoor Aquatic Center’s hours will be as follows:
• Lap swimming from 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., warm water workout from 8 to 10 a.m. and the zero-depth children’s area and the slide and diving area will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27.
• Lap swimming from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., warm water workout from 8 to 10 a.m. and the zero-depth children’s area and the slide and diving area will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29.
The city compost facility will be closed Saturday. Its two final days open this year will be self-load Saturdays on Dec. 7 and 14, but no more compost is available — only woodchips, according to the city’s website.
Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center will be closed Thursday and Friday. The Treatment and Recovery Center of Douglas County at 1000 W. Second St. is available 24/7. The HeadQuarters Kansas crisis line is available at 785-841-2345 or 988.
