Thousands of community members lined Massachusetts Street and beyond Monday afternoon for the 38th annual Lawrence St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

The annual parade and its associated events are fundraisers for local nonprofit organizations. This year’s beneficiaries are 100 Good Women, Ecumenical Campus Ministries and Theatre Lawrence.

Among the nearly 100 entries were family members and supporters of Brianna “Bri” Higgins, who would have turned 17 on Monday.

Bri was shot on Jan. 19, 2024, in Olathe. She was taken to the hospital, where she died. Her shooter was given the maximum sentence for a juvenile for reckless second-degree murder and juvenile firearm possession.
