A 1-mile section of U.S. Highway 40 northwest of Lawrence in Douglas County will be closed next week.
The highway will be fully closed between mile markers 375 and 376 beginning Monday, July 21. The area is just east of the East 600 Road intersection.
Kansas Department of Transportation crews will be working to replace a drainage structure under the roadway, according to a news release from KDOT.
The closure is anticipated to be in place through Friday, July 25. There will be no detours posted, and motorists will need to use alternate routes, according to the release.
