Band students from Lawrence middle schools and KU will join onstage Friday for a holiday concert, “Brassmas.”
The KU School of Music’s Vespers concert is celebrating a huge milestone: It’s turning 100 this year. That will be one of many opportunities coming up to hear the sounds of the holiday season in Lawrence.
Taylor Zickefoose, a KU School of Music student, has been selected from among applicants worldwide as one of two rising talents who will participate in the inaugural Bob Dylan Center Songwriting Fellowship.

KU has named Paul Popiel, the interim dean of the School of Music, to the permanent position.
KU music students this week will learn from visiting professional musicians. The masterclasses and a series of concerts featuring the renowned pianist, violinist and cellist are also free for the public to attend.

Members of the top choir at KU earned a clean sweep in both of their categories at an international competition in Greece, as well as surprise awards for the best overall program and best conductor.
KU’s top choir is preparing to travel to Greece next week for a competition and festival where choirs from around the world will share each other’s cultures and love of choral fine arts.
