City commissioners will consider adopting a revised land development code at Tuesday’s meeting, after two years of work and with new opposition from some neighborhood groups that worry the new code could reshape their community.
”I’d like to highlight two areas (of the draft land development code) that I’m betting are of particular interest: single-family zoning and off-street parking,” Nick Kuzmyak writes in this column.
A steering committee is seeking feedback on a new draft land development code for Lawrence. The 553-page draft basically modifies the city’s guidelines for what can be built where, and what requirements developments must meet.
City commissioners on Tuesday received an update on the city’s new land development code, which aims to update zoning regulations to allow for more sustainability, affordable housing and equity.
”We can have our voices heard now, when the fundamental laws are being set, rather than later when we hear of a development we don’t agree with or are frustrated at the slow pace of housing construction,” Nick Kuzmyak writes in this column on the city’s land development code update.
