As cardboard recycling dumpsters at local grocery stores have been filling up fast, the City of Lawrence has added a new location at the Douglas County Fairgrounds to help meet the demand.

City solid waste crews will pick up yard waste during only two of the four weeks in February to ”enhance operational efficiency.”
Residents will pay the City of Lawrence about $1.50 more per month on average, or $18 more per year, for trash service and stormwater in 2025.
The City of Lawrence has had to cancel commercial solid waste collection and residential recycling service for Tuesday because of equipment issues related to winter weather.
