The director of local podcast Lawrence Talks! recently invited Lawrence Times reporter/founder Mackenzie Clark on to talk about the roles and responsibilities of local journalism, and how the Times aims to help solve some problems in the journalism industry — at least on a very small scale.

Lawrence Talks! is a nonprofit organization, “an interdisciplinary initiative that has as its primary goal to make the research and insights of academics of varying backgrounds, interests, and experience accessible to the public.” Their site at lawrencetalks.org hosts blog entries, episodes of the podcast and event information.

David Tamez, a Ph.D. candidate in KU’s Department of Philosophy, is the director, founder and editor-in-chief. He posted the chat shortly after the Times launched on Monday.

Give it a listen on the Lawrence Talks! website here. You can also listen and subscribe on Spotify and iTunes. Check out the group’s blog posts here.
