Update: Lawrence police locate missing woman, cancel silver alert

Update, 12:09 p.m. Saturday: Lawrence police called off a silver alert after locating Marilyn Dowell safe on Saturday, within about half an hour of issuing a silver alert.

Original story, posted at 11:36 a.m. Saturday:

Lawrence police issued a silver alert Saturday for a missing 94-year-old woman.

Marilyn Dowell was reported missing by a caregiver in the 1700 block of Brandon Woods Drive earlier this morning, according to the alert. Dowell’s 2012 gold GMC Terrain with a Kansas Disabled license plate No. 12535 was also missing.

“Officers were able to locate Marilyn’s vehicle leaving the city at 7:44 a.m., and a neighbor told police she could be on her way to Arizona,” according to the release. “Marilyn needs movement assistance and is considered a fall risk.”

If you see Dowell or her 2012 GMC Terrain, police ask that you contact the department immediately at 785-832-7509.
