A woman has died from injuries she suffered in a crash on Kansas Highway 10 late Thursday, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to what was reported as a two-car head-on crash at 10:19 p.m. Thursday, Deputy Charlie Cooper said via email Friday morning.

The woman was not responsive when first responders arrived, and she succumbed to her injuries, Cooper said. The male driver of the other vehicle suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital, Cooper said.

Neither driver had anyone else in their vehicles, Cooper said.

The crash was at mile marker 381 on Highway 40, better known as the curve near the Clinton Parkway interchange on K-10.

“The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team is currently investigating the crash,” Cooper said.

The highway was closed in both directions for a few hours overnight while deputies worked the scene of the crash, according to tweets from the sheriff’s office.
