LMH Health lost three patients to COVID-19 over the weekend, marking the fourth death from COVID in the past week, according to a community update Monday.

“The families of these patients are each grieving a staggering loss, and these events are weighing heavily on our providers and team members as well,” Rebecca Smith, vice president of strategic communications, wrote in the update.

The hospital also reported 19 total COVID inpatients — “We have only seen numbers this high once before in 2021, when we had 19 inpatients on Jan. 8.”

Of those inpatients, 74% are unvaccinated or unknown. Five are in the ICU/critical care; two are on ventilators; three are on Bipap, CPAP or vapotherm. Their average age is 63.

“Today’s news is a good reminder that this pandemic is far from over, and the costs are real and unchanging,” Smith wrote. “Please, continue to be vigilant and take steps to protect yourself and others from COVID.”
