Black and Brown performers made history at the Thirsty Thursday drag show at the Jazzhaus in downtown Lawrence.

MsAmanda Love, longtime host of the weekly drag variety shows, was glad to yield the stage for Thursday night’s special “Blackout,” which featured only People of Color, including DJ Ruby Malice.

“For myself I have always tried to provide all types of drag performers with different ethnicities a place to perform and feel comfortable and so I am so excited to step aside, take the night off and enjoy this amazing show with people from all over,” Love wrote in an Instagram post announcing the show.

This Blackout show was the first of its kind at the Jazzhaus. Love hopes it can become a tradition.
