St. John’s Oktoberfest, in its 24th year, honored the memory of Goetz Berthold. He died at 92 in November 2020.

Goetz Berthold started Oktoberfest with his wife, Mariele, and the two never missed the event until COVID hit in 2020. Their son, Roland Berthold — who also designed the graphic on the commemorative beer mugs for sale — spoke about his father during the event.
