Person struck by car, seriously injured on KU campus

A female pedestrian was struck by a car and seriously injured Friday on Engel Road on the University of Kansas campus, according to Deputy Chief James Druen of the KU Public Safety Office.

The incident occurred around 2:10 p.m. Friday in the 1600 block of Engel Road, scanner traffic indicated. That’s near Daisy Hill Commons.

The pedestrian was transported to Stormont Vail hospital in Topeka, scanner traffic indicated.

Roads in the area would need to be closed for a while for the investigation, first responders said over the scanner around 2:23 p.m. Friday.

The cause of the crash was still under investigation as of 3:40 p.m. Friday, Druen said.
