City of Lawrence, Douglas County plan closures for holiday week; some trash pickup delayed

City of Lawrence and Douglas County government offices will be closed Thursday and Friday for the holiday.

In addition, trash pickups that are normally scheduled for Thursdays in Lawrence will be postponed to Friday, and normal Friday pickups will occur on Saturday. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday solid waste pickups will not be changed.

Parking at meters and in lots and garages in downtown Lawrence will be free Thursday and Friday. There will be no transit service on Thursday, but routes will resume on Friday.

The Lawrence Public Library will also be closed Thursday and Friday, though the online library is still open 24/7.

City parks and recreation facilities will be closed Thursday; all but Prairie Park Nature Center will be open Friday. See full hours for parks and rec facilities at this link.

There are no Lawrence City Commission or Douglas County Commission meetings this week.
