Officers were dispatched on a welfare check just after 5 p.m. When they arrived at the residence hall, 500 W. 11th St., they found the student, according to a news release.

“The cause of death is under investigation, and foul play is not suspected,” the release stated. “Out of respect for the family, we will not be releasing the name of the student.”

The student’s death is at least the second at KU in the 2021-22 school year. A student died at Lewis Hall in October.

Any student who is troubled by this event is encouraged to contact Counseling and Psychological Services at 785-864-2277 or use MySSP to call or chat with professional counselors 24/7, according to the release.
