One of the first major Lawrence events that was canceled at the beginning of the COVID-19 returned to Massachusetts Street Thursday afternoon.

The springtime staple that draws thousands of people from all over town and beyond each year featured many longtime parade participants, plus plenty of new ones.

And perhaps best of all, as far as the eye could see, there were smiling faces.

Lawrence Saint Patrick’s Day Parade beneficiaries this year include Lawrence Public Library Friends & Foundation, the Watkins Museum of History, and The Jefferson’s Foundation.
