A moment in Lawrence: John Waters speaks to Free State Festival crowd

Filmmaker John Waters returned to Lawrence for “False Negative: An Evening with John Waters” as part of the Free State Festival Thursday night.

Waters, who postponed a visit to Lawrence during last year’s COVID-19 surge, shared his unique perspective on subjects including the pandemic, his career, movies, fashion and crime.

The evening ended with Waters returning to the stage for a “therapy session” with several dozen of his fans.
