Douglas County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the two-vehicle crash around 7:35 p.m., according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

The intersection was closed as of 8:25 p.m. so that first responders could continue working, according to the release.

“Drivers are asked to avoid the area, but anyone who needs to access the town of Clinton will need to come from the west on East 251 Diagonal Road,” the release stated. “Drivers headed north on North 851 Diagonal Road will not be able to get through the intersection, as of 8:15 p.m. Friday.”

Scanner traffic indicated that first responders had requested a LifeStar helicopter to transport a patient. The sheriff’s office said that as of 8:25 p.m., four patients had been transported by ground ambulance to an area hospital.

The sheriff’s office had not named any of the people involved in the crash as of Friday evening. The cause of the crash was under investigation.
