Staff members have discovered duplicate copies of books already in the museum’s collections and several books unrelated to Douglas County history, according to the Watkins’ event page.

“The staff and board of the Watkins decided to remove these books from the collection to assure our resources are spent supporting materials that best fit the museum’s mission,” the page continues.

Funds raised from the book sale will go toward care of collections needs, including archival preservation materials, according to the Watkins. Book prices will range from $1 to $15.

The sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 in the Community Room at the Watkins Museum, 1047 Massachusetts St.
