As part of ongoing work on East 23rd Street, the City of Lawrence on Monday will close Harper Street from 23rd Street north to the first private driveway.

The closure is to install a waterline, storm sewer and new concrete pavement, according to a traffic update from the city.

The closure is expected to be in effect from Monday, Aug. 28 through mid-October, pending weather or other delays, according to the update.

Harper will be fully open south of the 23rd Street intersection, and the intersection of 23rd Street and Silicon Avenue will be reconstructed and open to traffic prior to the closure of Harper, according to the Friday update.

The red pin on the map below shows the approximate area of the closure on Harper:

The two northern lanes of East 23rd Street are still closed to traffic.
