Obituary: Bruce Alan Faust

Bruce Alan Faust, 76, of Overbrook, KS passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023 at the V.A. Hospital in Topeka, KS. He was born November 12, 1947 on the family farm in rural Overbrook. He was the first child of Ira Junior Faust and Dorothy Jean (Rice) Faust. He went to Twin Mound, a one-room schoolhouse in Douglas County through 8th grade and graduated from Overbrook Rural High School with the class of 1965.

Bruce joined the United States Air Force in 1966 and served four years for our country including two tours in Vietnam. He was discharged in May 1970. He also served in the Kansas Air National Guard from September 1973 until October 1979.

He was united in marriage to Pamala Bagby on September 4, 1971 at the United Methodist Church in Overbrook. They shared over fifty-two years of marriage.

Bruce was employed for several years at the Kansas Department of Transportation. He then bought and operated Bob’s Service Station in Overbrook in August 1979 until 1984. He went on to work at T.A.R.C. for thirteen years before becoming a truck driver for Lowes in Topeka. He finished his work career at the Topeka Public Schools, U.S.D. 501 as a truck driver.

Bruce was an avid and skilled outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and reloading his own ammunition. As a retiree, he was frequently seen riding his electric scooter accompanied by his trustworthy dog trotting beside him all around town and the city lake.
He was a 58-year member of The American Legion Anderson-Raible Post 239 and a lifetime member of National Rifle Association.

Mr. Faust was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Dorothy Faust.

He is survived by his wife, Pamala of the home; a son, Alan Faust of Overbrook; two brothers, Bernie Faust and his wife, Linda of rural Overbrook and Brian Faust of San Jose, CA; a sister, Janet Faust and her husband, Fred Dimick of Berryton; and his mother-in-law, Phyllis Bagby of Overbrook; plus several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family is planning a private inurnment at Twin Mound Cemetery in Douglas County, KS, followed with a Celebration of Bruce’s life at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to The American Legion Anderson-Raible, Overbrook, KS and may be sent in c/o the Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O. Box 268, Overbrook, KS 66524.
