Wind chills as low as -20° are in the forecast for northeastern Kansas over the next couple of days and nights, and Lawrence could see snow flurries Thursday evening.
The National Weather Service in Topeka forecasts a low of 1° Thursday night, with wind chills between -6° and -16*. It’s expected to be blustery, with winds between 15 and 20 mph and gusts up to 35 mph. Some flurries are possible before 8 p.m. Thursday, according to the forecast.
Friday is expected to be mostly sunny with a high of 13° and wind chills as cold as Thursday night. Wind gusts are also possible, and the overnight low is forecast to be -6°.
Saturday is also expected to be sunny and less windy with a high of 13°. The forecast shows an overnight low of 4° with gusts up to 25 mph returning at night.
Sunday and the following days are expected to warm up a bit, with temperatures ranging from 32° during the day Sunday up to 43° on Wednesday. Rain is possible, according to the forecast as of Thursday morning.
