Freezing rain might join slightly warmer temperatures in Lawrence early Monday

Lawrence is finally expected to see slightly warmer temperatures over the next few days, but there is a chance that the area will see freezing rain overnight Sunday into Monday morning.

Saturday’s forecast showed an overnight low of 6° with wind chill values between -3° and 2° into Sunday.

Sunday is expected to be partly sunny with a high near 32°, though wind chill values will still be between -1° and 9°, according to the National Weather Service in Topeka. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph.

Sunday night into Monday and Monday morning, Lawrence could see freezing rain, followed by rain Monday afternoon and evening. Lawrence has a 40% chance of freezing rain early in the day Monday, according to the forecast as of Saturday evening, followed by a 70% chance of rain Monday evening and night.

The high for Monday is expected to be 38°, with an overnight low of 32°, according to NWS. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph Monday, but the forecast did not indicate the dangerously low wind chill values will continue.

The forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday shows temperatures ranging from lows in the low 30s to highs in the low 40s. Rain is possible Tuesday night, Wednesday and Thursday, as of Saturday evening’s forecast.
