Lawrence woman found dead after police issue silver alert

Update, 2:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16:

A Lawrence woman has been found dead Friday afternoon after being reported missing.

Family members last spoke to Viki Peterson, 71, of Lawrence, on Thursday afternoon, according to the Lawrence Police Department.

“Ms. Peterson was unfortunately located deceased in Wyandotte County,” Lawrence police said in a second news release. “Family has been notified and no criminal activity is suspected in the case at this time.”

Lawrence police are asking for the public’s help to locate Viki Peterson, 71, of Lawrence.

Peterson’s family last spoke to her Thursday afternoon, according to a news release from LPD.

“Her phone shares her location with family, and its last recorded location was a field in Leavenworth County, but neither her phone nor car were located nearby,” according to the release.

Peterson was driving a dark blue Jeep Liberty with Kansas license plate URG 365 when she left Lawrence, according to the release.

Police ask that people who see Peterson or her vehicle or who know where she is to please call 911.
