Patrick Graham, currently principal of Santa Fe Trail High School, will soon join Lawrence Public Schools as assistant principal and athletic director at Lawrence High School.

Graham earned his bachelor’s degree at Washburn University and his master’s at Emporia State University, according to a news release from the district on Monday.

He has served as principal at Santa Fe Trail High School for 10 years and previously was assistant principal there for six years. He previously worked three years as a junior/senior high school principal for the Axtell Public Schools and spent seven years teaching English in Holton, Council Grove, and Ottawa, according to the release.

Graham said in the release that he’s thrilled to join the LHS staff.

“As we work together, I am committed to fostering a positive and inclusive school culture, supporting the academic and athletic success of our students, and building strong relationships with our staff and community,” Graham said in the release. “I am eager to learn about the school’s traditions, programs, and initiatives, and to contribute to the continued growth and success of Lawrence High.”

Quentin Rials, principal of LHS, said in the release that he is delighted that Graham will bring his experience and fresh perspective to LHS.

“We eagerly anticipate his integration into our already robust team and are enthusiastic about acquainting him with the traditions of the Chesty Lion,” Rials said in the release.

Graham succeeds Mike Gillman, who was recently promoted to associate principal. Graham’s position will be effective July 1, pending school board approval. The administrative team also includes assistant principals Elaina Honas and Greg Farley.
