Lawrence police officers will conduct a sobriety check lane Friday at an undisclosed location in Lawrence.
The checkpoint, funded by a grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation, is intended to increase awareness of motorists about the dangers of impaired driving. Police also aim to deter impaired driving, detect and investigate DUI offenses.
The check lane is set for 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2.
“The Lawrence Police Department urges you to designate a sober driver, buckle up, and help do your part to make Lawrence safer,” according to a news release from the department Monday morning.
