Lawrence city commissioners on Tuesday will discuss nominees to the city’s new advisory boards, some of which will soon launch with all new membership.

The new appointments come following a long process to slim down the number of advisory boards the city had. (Read more on the background in the articles at this link.)

Several members of the city’s current advisory boards have reapplied and been nominated to serve on the new boards, but the appointment list includes many new faces as well.

The four appointees nominated to the Community Police Review Board would all be new, and none of the members of the previous board nor members of the Community-Police Oversight Work Group were included on the list as of Monday afternoon.

Some nominations have been added and some removed since the agenda was initially published Thursday, but the reasons why were not clear from the meeting agenda.

Here’s an updated list of nominations to each board and how long their terms would be if approved. Those with asterisks next to their names were nominated by more than one commissioner.

The commission will begin its regular meeting at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6 at City Hall, 6 E. Sixth St. See the complete meeting agenda at this link.

Meetings are open to the public and livestreamed on the city’s YouTube channel, youtube.com/@lawrenceksvideo.

The commission accepts written public comment until noon the day of the meeting emailed to ccagendas@lawrenceks.org. The commission also hears public comment in person during meetings as well as via Zoom. Register for Tuesday’s Zoom meeting at this link.
