The Lawrence Electric Vehicle Showcase will highlight the latest electric vehicles and e-bikes, as well as their benefits to the environment.

The event, hosted by the Sustainability Action Network, is set for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6 on Massachusetts Street through the center of South Park. The street will be closed to traffic for the event.

Attendees will have the chance to see a range of electric vehicles, such as a Tesla Cybertruck, Fisker Ocean, Toyota bZ4X, Hyundai Ioniq-6, Rivian and Ford electric pickups, Teslas, a Lawrence Transit e-bus and more. Electric bicycles from two local bicycle shops will also be showcased.

“There will be displays by at least three local solar companies, and the University of Kansas Engineering School will sponsor a display of EV battery technology,” according to the event page. “The public will be able to talk with the EV owners, and learn the many advantages of driving an EV.”

The event is part of National Drive Electric Week, celebrated across the country from Sept. 27 through Oct. 6.

Co-sponsors of the event include the City of Lawrence and the Lawrence Transit System.

For more information, including a list of all vehicles that attendees should expect to see at the showcase, visit the event page via Drive Electric Week.
