Two upcoming workshops at the Lawrence library aim to help tenants understand their legal rights as renters.
Kansas Legal Services hosts “Know Your Rights” training sessions on the second Saturday of May, July and August. The nonprofit corporation offers legal aid to clients across the state, with costs on a sliding scale.
This month’s workshop, scheduled for 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 12, is about the eviction process and ways to avoid displacement.
“From decoding different types of notices to preparing yourself for court, understanding and responding to an eviction can be challenging,” the event page says.
Next month, Kansas Legal Services will discuss how to get security deposits back. That’s set for 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9.
Workshops are held at Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vermont St. They’re free to attend and open to everyone.
The May workshop on tenant-landlord law was recorded.
