Motorcyclist killed in crash in Lawrence

A motorcyclist has died following a crash Friday afternoon just south of KU’s campus in Lawrence.

The crash occurred at 4:13 p.m. Friday near 21st Street and Naismith Drive, according to the Lawrence Police Department.

“A car was headed westbound on 21st. The motorcycle was traveling north on Naismith. The two collided,” according to a news release from the department.

The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car had minor injuries and cooperated fully with the investigation, according to the release.

Police were interviewing witnesses and working to determine the exact cause of the crash, according to the release.

“The name of the deceased man will be released once next of kin can be notified and have some time to inform friends and family,” according to the release.
