Military aircraft will fly over Lawrence, and a road near the stadium will be closed for the KU football game against the University of Utah on Friday.
Two A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft, or “Warthogs,” will fly over the football stadium around 10:50 a.m. Friday, Nov. 28, according to a news release from KU. Kickoff is at 11 a.m.
The 442nd Fighter Wing based out of Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri is conducting the flyover, per the release.
As a reminder, Fambrough Drive/11th Street will close between Maine and Illinois streets to protect pedestrians and allow traffic to exit the KU football stadium before and after the game.
The closures will begin five hours prior to kickoff and end 45 minutes after the end of the game, according to the city.
Lawrence Transit buses will also pick up stadiumgoers at the bus stop across the street from the Lawrence Public Library parking garage in the 700 block of Vermont Street and shuttle them to and from the stadium before and after games; read more about that at this link.
The Jayhawks are 5-6 so far this season. They lost to Iowa State 14-38 in the Saturday, Nov. 22 game.
