Person killed, one injured in shooting at popular bar near KU in Lawrence

A person was killed and another is in critical condition after a shooting around 2 a.m. Saturday at the Hawk in Lawrence, a popular bar near the University of Kansas campus, according to Lawrence police.

Police shared few details in a social media post at 3:34 a.m. Saturday.

“The scene is secure and detectives are questioning those involved,” according to LPD. “That is all we can confirm at this time. We will keep you updated as the investigation progresses.”

As of the latest update to this article, no arrests on the Douglas County jail’s booking log appeared to be connected to the shooting.

Additional information was not immediately available Saturday morning.

The bar is at 1340 Ohio St., close by two other popular bars.
