Lawrence

Michael Forcade, born August 21, 1948, died in his home January 26th from complications of post-polio syndrome. He was 77 years of age.

He was an irrepressible character and a most resilient survivor with bullet-proof being a perfect description. His knowledge and statistical sense of baseball was jaw dropping. He knew the players inside and out and recalled detailed performance stats and complex plays easily from memory. Michael’s entrepreneurial spirit and love of sport led him to Las Vegas where he lived for 30 years. He enjoyed sports gambling and devised many a successful betting strategy which led to his hosting a regular Las Vegas TV show, “This Week in Sports”. He retired to Lawrence, KS in 2012 where enjoyed football, basketball, and lively banter.

He is survived by his brother Tim Forcade and Betsy Forcade of Lawrence, KS. Many thanks to Lawrence police and fire personnel for their kindness and professionalism, to LMH doctors and nurses for their exceptional care, and to Midland Pace for all their support and for enabling him to stay at home.
