A tribute gallery will highlight Douglas County teachers, first responders, military service members, government workers and additional state and federal employees who lived or worked here, now or at any time in the nation’s history.
The gallery will debut at Summerfest, the City of Lawrence’s July 4 celebration.
County residents are invited to submit a photo and basic information about their public service, or the service of a family member who lived in Douglas County and were public servants at any point during their careers.
Participants should make their submissions through the online portal at publicservantstribute.douglascountykshistory.org on or before June 20 to be included.
The Douglas County, Kansas Public Servants Past & Present Tribute Gallery is a collaboration between the Watkins Museum of History, Dole Institute of Politics and City of Lawrence Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture. It’s part of celebrations of America turning 250.
