The Lawrence Outdoor Aquatic Center opening has been delayed to Monday, June 1 after the city announced plans to open on Memorial Day.
“(T)he opening has been delayed as renovation work at the aquatic center is still being completed,” according to a city news release on Friday morning.
The Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive, will instead have extended hours next week.
All areas of the indoor pool will be open from 1 to 6 p.m. Monday, May 25.

The city’s splash pads will open for the season on Tuesday, May 26. They will operate from noon to 8 p.m. daily and are free to use.
The indoor pool will have lap swimming from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, May 26 through 29, and the leisure pool, slide and diving areas will be open from 1 to 7:30 p.m. on those days.
For Saturday, May 30, the indoor pool will have lap swimming from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the leisure pool, slide and diving areas will be open from 1 to 6 p.m.
On Sunday, May 31, all areas of the indoor aquatic center will be open from 1 to 6 p.m.
Admission
Daily admission is $8 for people ages 18 to 59 and $7 for people ages 3 to 17 and 60-plus. Up to three kids ages 2 and younger can enter free with each adult’s paid admission.
Memberships are valid at the indoor and outdoor aquatic centers. Annual memberships are available for $375 per person. Thirty-day memberships cost $47 per person, and summer memberships, valid May 25 through Sept. 7, cost $94.
There are also 10-punch cards available for $65 for adults ages 18 to 59 or $55 for youths and seniors.
